Jewelry Wear & Care

We’re a community of romantics who love the natural beauty of brass and sterling silver, so we've chosen to steer away from plating our jewels with gold.

These metals develop a natural patina, which is a testament to their journey through time. Yet this dull gold or sterling silver luster can easily be restored yourself by following a few simple steps:

Option 1: Ultrasonic Cleaner

  • Fill your ultrasonic cleaner with water, enough to cover the jewelry you want to clean.
  • Add 1-2 tsp of Pitambari powder into the water.
  • Turn on your ultrasonic cleaner for 60 sec
  • If needed, do another round of cleaning with just the water to get any residual pitambari powder out of the jewelry. This is sometimes needed for chains and small parts.
  • Once cleaned, wipe your jewelry off with a cloth or paper towel and let it dry completely in a moisture-free environment.
  • You can order a good ultrasonic cleaner from Amazon for under $30

Option 2: Hand Clean with Pitambari Powder

    • Moisten your polishing cloth slightly, just enough so that the Pitambari powder will adhere to it.
    • Sprinkle a small amount of Pitambari powder onto the moistened cloth.
    • Gently rub the powder-coated cloth over your jewels, using a light friction to remove the patina.
    • Once cleaned, wipe off any remaining powder with a damp cloth and dry the jewelry thoroughly.
    • You can order your Pitambari powder here

Option 3: Hand Clean with Lemon, Vinegar, Tamarind, or Ketchup

      • Dip a polishing cloth into your chosen solution (lemon juice, vinegar, tamarind water, or ketchup).
      • Gently rub the cloth over your jewels for about 30 seconds.
      • Rinse the jewelry with water and pat it dry completely with a clean cloth.

Just like taking care of our bodies is therapeutic, taking care of our jewelry can help us appreciate the objects that mean so much to us, whether they are cherished heirlooms or something special we've bought for ourselves. So take a pause and enjoy your jewelry self-care!
