Käma Part 2: The Visceral Qualities
Mar 04, 2025
When Shan and Seema first shared their vision, it was about jewelry as an intimate whisper between the wearer and the piece. We imagined Käma jewelry as fluid, sensual, powerful, yet delicate—visceral qualities you'd feel at first glance.

Käma Part 1: How it Started

Jewelry is often made to be seen. Kama is meant to be felt. Every piece serves a purpose—anklets and girdles mark rhythm, earrings signal pace, and necklaces guide touch—each one shaping how a woman moves, how she feels, how she carries herself.

Rasä Part 3: The Cast
Aug 30, 2024
As we envisioned the cast of Rasä—the motifs and shapes that are embodied in dance—we were drawn to the beauty and significance of circular forms. It is a shape that feels both grounding and uplifting, reminding us of the interconnectedness of all things. Additionally, we sought motifs that embody the deep connection of a dancer—to nature, the dichotomy of life, and the feeling of being whole and complete.

Rasa Part 2: The Emotions

There were many paths we could have taken to create a dance-inspired collection. One obvious choice might have been to draw directly from Indian classical dance, using Mudras or specific gestures as inspiration. Instead, we chose a more nuanced approach.

Rasä Part 1: Design & Choreography

At Surmeyi, the philosophy of belonging is deeply woven into everything we do. Everything we design, we ask ourselves one question – how would it make you feel? We love to translate emotions into designs. In dance, they call it the Rasä. It's hard to put into words, but its presence is undeniable to the heart. It's the juice, the very essence of something.

Jewelry Wear & Care
Sep 02, 2023
We’re a community of romantics who love the natural beauty of brass and sterling silver, so we've chosen to steer away from plating our jewels with gold. These metals develop a natural patina, which is a testament to their journey through time. Yet this dull gold or sterling silver luster can easily be restored yourself by following a few simple steps with Pitambari Powder or some commonly available solutions such as Vinegar.
